Some of the measures in place to reduce emissions by the Lake Macquarie Council include:

  • The installation of solar hot water systems, site metering and shower timers at caravan parks
  • Upgrading of boilers at the Charlestown Pool
  • Making the Council vehicle fleet smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles
  • The installation of 25 kW worth of solar PV modules at various council buildings
  • Acquiring 15 per cent of GreenPower for the Council's largest energy consuming buildings.
